Hey dudes! I’m continuing on the theme of finally blogging weddings that happened months ago.

Today, for your viewing pleasure, I have Emily and Jay’s wedding at Moddershall Oaks. Here’s what they had to say about their epic day!

How did you meet?:
9 years ago, Jay booked a Rock Climbing lesson at Wolf Mountain where Em was an instructor.  After lots of cheeky chat from him and a lesson in rope tying from her, we were inseparable.

Tell me your proposal story:
We hiked up Scafell Pike in the Lakes District on a beautiful August Day.
Jay stashed a couple of bottles of cider, plastic cups and a stunning diamond ring in his rucksack, then once at the top asked Em to turn around and take a photo of the view. Jay dropped to one knee and popped the question, but when he tried to pass Em the ring – she dropped it, in her true clumsy fashion! A quick scrabble around and quickly it was found and placed on her finger.

Why did you choose the venue(s) you chose for your wedding day?:
Moddershall Oaks ticked all the boxes for us! We love the outdoors, so getting married under the trees, next to the lake was perfect. We loved that speakers were discreetly positioned everywhere so you could always hear music, plus the food and staff are outstanding – we were without doubt always in safe hands! In addition, we knew Moddershall Oaks would perfectly cater for an incredible band and our evening sneaky surprise – a snowboard simulator.

What was it you loved about your outfits and accessories that made you choose them?:
Jay and the Groomsmen had Hip Flasks with their initials engraved on them.
Em wore blue Jimmy Choos, as ‘Marriage is the first step towards your future together. A step so important, it deserves some seriously gorgeous shoes.’

Tell me about the theme/styling of your wedding:
We wanted our wedding to be beautiful but have kick of personality and fun.
Parsley and Sage supplied amazing ferns, ivys, blue hydrangeas and freesias, along with thistles and heathers, for a woodland/alpine vibe. We used Mountain Bike Chain to create candle holders, jars with OS Maps and (the grooms favourite) JD bottles as flower vases. We had a custom made Piste Map for a table plan and asked guests to ‘Sign our Snowboard’ in lieu of a guest book. Designpye created amazingly detailed and individual Table Names and Place Settings. Our cake, by Peridot Bakery, was ombre blue with the white outline of mountains and trees and we added a 3 tier Pizza Cake as a suprise. There was Strings versions of Guns & Roses, Nirvana and Metallica playing during the wedding breakfast and The Fanatics Band were phenomenal during the evening with EVERYBODY up dancing.

What was your first dance and why did you choose it?:
Disenchanted Lullaby by Foo Fighters, our favourite band, high energy and the lyrics of the chorus made us smile.

What were the most special/memorable moments of the day for you?
Having a sneaky thumb war during during the ceremony. Standing at the alter and looking around to see everyone we love smiling back. 2 year old Willow shouting Uh-Oh during our vows. Probably the harshest, but funniest best men speeches ever! Phenomenal food. A heaving dance floor at all times. Everyone incredible attempts on the snowboard simulator, often donning ‘modesty shorts’ and Goggles!

Why did you choose Bib & Tucker as your photographer, and what was your experience of your photography on the day?:
{{From Dan’s shiny head to his mile wide grin, we knew his selfies are 2nd to non!}}

We fell in love with Dan’s relaxed yet emotion filled shots when looking at photographers. He has a brilliant, non-intrusive way of capturing every laugh and important detail. Alongside Luke, together they created a professional and extremely friendly duo on the day who captured the atmosphere perfectly and supplied some brilliantly creative shots which we cant help but raise a smile at when we see them!

What would be your best bit of advice to other couples planning their wedding?:
Pretend your wedding is 1 or 2 weeks before it actually is, so you can spend the last week relaxed and enjoy every second 🙂

Are you planning on going on a Honeymoon? If so where are you headed?
Japan! 1 week exploring Tokyo and Kyoto followed by 1 week snowboarding in the powder haven of the world!
