We first met when we were about 16 as we both lived in a small village just outside of Stone. Alice worked in the local pub and got to know a few of the young people her age and Ben was one of them. At first, we didn’t get on as we had a clash of personalities which continued for the next few years……when we were about 21, Alice moved out of the village for a period of time for work. We didn’t see each other for a couple of years and then one day we bumped into each other in the same pub, caught up on each other’s lives and our relationship just blossomed from then on.
Tell me your proposal story:
Ben was planning on taking Alice to Paris for our 3rd anniversary. He was not great at planning surprises and booking holidays so had to tell Alice about it to get her help. Ben got annoyed a bit on the run up as everyone had asked him if he was going to propose…! Fortunately he did! Under the Eiffel Tower on the last night. It was magical.
Why did you choose the venue(s) you chose for your wedding day?:
We had always wanted to get married abroad and once we were back from Paris we looked into venue’s in the Caribbean and Greece. Soon after, it was evident that some close family/friends would not have been able to come should it have been overseas so we made the decision to stay in the UK but still wanted it to be outside (weather dependent) and in the summer. Moddershall Oaks was local for family and friends and we just fell in love with the outdoor ceremony area.
What was it you loved about your outfits and accessories that made you choose them?:
Everyone will know that Alice loves her converse…..so when she found personalised ones that were all sparkly for weddings it was a must have!
What was your first dance and why did you choose it?:
Our first dance was A Thousand Years which is originally from the film Twilight. This was one of the first box set films we watched together and from the moment we heard the song we agreed that if we would ever get married it would be our first dance. It still gives Alice goosebumps today when it’s played!
What were the most special/memorable moments of the day for you?
It would have to be the ceremony. Nothing compares to that moment which is just so surreal. Alice would also walk down the aisle everyday if she could as well!
Why did you choose Bib & Tucker as your photographer, and what was your experience of your photography on the day?:
Ben knew Dan from school and had shown Alice a lot of his work on Facebook from other weddings. Alice was sold from the start and after meeting Dan personally it just felt right. He took the time to get to know us and made us feel so comfortable. We’ve already promised we’ll be back in the future!
What would be your best bit of advice to other couples planning their wedding?:
You will love the planning but also hate it at times….but it is worth every emotion you go through. Take your time and work together. But the Bride’s opinion always wins!
Are you planning on going on a Honeymoon? If so where are you headed?
We headed to Bali for just over 2 weeks and traveled around. It is such a beautiful country and we would recommend it as a place to visit.
